A Dronacharya Award-winning gymnastics coach is booked by Mumbai police under the POCSO Act after a 16-year-old student alleges sexual harassment at a gymnasium in Vile Parle. The case follows a complaint by the student to the authorities, which leads to the registration of an FIR.

Police say the matter is based on allegations involving the student, who has been receiving gymnastics training from the coach for several years. Reports describe that on Friday morning the student receives a WhatsApp message from the coach and later goes to the gymnasium after arranging to meet him. The complaint alleges the coach called the minor to the premises alone and then engaged in inappropriate physical conduct during the conversation.

Outlets also report that police are investigating by examining CCTV footage from the gymnasium and surrounding areas and reviewing the WhatsApp messages between the student and the accused. While one report focuses specifically on the POCSO booking in connection with the alleged harassment, another adds additional details about the alleged interaction and notes that police have also invoked provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita alongside the POCSO Act. The accused is being questioned as part of the probe, and further legal action depends on the findings.
