City Boys Movement media director Bashir Ahmad disagrees with Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) vice-presidential candidate Rabi’u Kwankwaso over Kwankwaso’s remarks about the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign council for the 2027 election.
Ahmad, speaking in a late Sunday post on his verified X account, says it is legitimate to scrutinise any government and call for better governance. However, he argues that presenting the election as a struggle between “oppressors and oppressed” does not advance serious national debate. He says the APC campaign council should be assessed by its policies, programmes, and vision, and that the election should be a contest of ideas, performance, competence, and competing plans for Nigeria’s future.
Both outlets attribute the disagreement to Kwankwaso’s earlier framing of the APC campaign as responsible for Nigeria’s problems. Ahmad also comments on the appointment of former Zamfara State governor Abdul’aziz Yari to head the APC campaign council, saying Yari’s experience should be considered an asset and that experience does not automatically equal complicity in all national challenges.
