Zulum endorses Kebbi Governor Nasir Idris for second term

 Borno State Governor Prof. Babagana Zulum has endorsed Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris for a second term, describing him as a generous, hardworking and visionary leader with the character, charisma and capacity to govern the state for eight years.Zulum made the remarks on Sunday in Maiduguri during a courtesy visit by media aides to Idris, led by Kebbi State Commissioner for Information and Culture Alhaji Yakubu Birnin Kebbi.The Borno governor said he first knew Idris during the campaign for his own second term and regards him as a respected comrade and trusted leader who unites people. He stated that effective leadership demands sacrifice, dedication, courage and the ability to bring people together across political and ethnic lines, qualities he said Idris has shown.Zulum urged the people of Kebbi to back continuity in government, arguing that a full eight-year tenure would allow the governor to consolidate his gains and promote sustainable growth across sectors.He praised the Idris administration’s work in security, education, agriculture, healthcare, road infrastructure and human capital development. Noting the shared security challenges facing both states, Zulum said he understood the scale of the task.Recalling his visit to Kebbi last year, he said he was impressed by the pace of development, including investments in education and healthcare, road construction, agriculture, a modern state secretariat, a central motor park, and empowerment programmes for farmers, youths and the elderly. These projects, he added, show a commitment to people-oriented governance.Zulum also described Idris as a leader of good manners and wisdom who fosters unity among the political class, which he said is essential for lasting progress.Earlier, Birnin Kebbi said the visit was intended to strengthen ties between Kebbi and Borno and to enable Kebbi media officials to learn from Borno’s experience in security management and public communication. He recalled the traditional title of Zannan Borno conferred on Idris by the Shehu of Borno as a symbol of friendship and cooperation between the two states.The commissioner also highlighted Kebbi’s interventions in education, healthcare, infrastructure and agriculture, including free fertiliser distribution to farmers, and thanked Zulum for the warm reception and support for closer collaboration.
