Nigerian Army troops in Zamfara State arrest three men suspected of arms trafficking and recover a rifle and ammunition, while rescuing six people from an apparent terrorist attack the same day. The Army says the operations are carried out by its 1 Brigade under the Joint Task Force North West’s efforts to disrupt terrorist logistics and protect civilians.
According to a statement cited by Nigerian Eye, the arrests happen around 2:05 p.m. Sunday during a stop-and-search on the Kauran Namoda–Shinkafi Road. Soldiers recover an AK-103-2 rifle, a magazine, and 30 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, allegedly hidden in a bag of millet inside a Golf Wagon. The suspects are taken into custody for investigation and possible prosecution.
Separately on the same afternoon, troops at Forward Operating Base Anka rescue six people after suspected terrorists attack a vehicle at Gadan Manya on the Anka–Gummi Main Supply Route. The Army reports that soldiers engage the attackers as they try to move victims into the bush, forcing them to abandon the six people and flee. The rescued individuals are taken for medical care, with some reported to have minor injuries.
