The guide centers on using a Raspberry Pi 5 along with a keyboard, a battery, and a protective case, described in reports as Pelican-style. The approach reflects how many hobbyists and creators build cyberdecks by repurposing thrifted or recycled enclosures such as purses or jewelry boxes.
One outlet also notes potential market context: Raspberry Pi has raised prices multiple times in 2024 as component costs, including RAM, have increased. In that account, the 16GB Raspberry Pi 5 version used in the guide received a $100 price increase in April, compared with the board’s earlier $120 price.
