Lionel Messi’s Kolkata tour organiser Satadru Dutta files a police complaint alleging major security lapses and related disruption during the high-profile event at Salt Lake stadium in December 2025. Dutta submits the complaint to the Bidhannagar South police station and names former West Bengal sports minister Aroop Biswas and several others, including former DGP and Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha MP Rajeev Kumar, minister’s kin, Kolkata Municipal Corporation councillor Juin Biswas, and I&CA department secretary Shantanu Basu.
In the complaint, Dutta alleges unlawful intrusion into restricted security zones, a collapse in perimeter control/discipline, and actions that he says endangered the event and its arrangements. Multiple reports also cite Dutta’s claim that he was treated as a “scapegoat” for the chaos that unfolded during the programme at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan.
The sources also note that Dutta was subsequently arrested and spent 38 days in jail after the incident. The complaint seeks police action into the alleged security breach and the circumstances surrounding the December event.
