In the footage, one councillor appears to use water in his palm while others repeat the words, and it also includes a pledge to stay together if someone faces trouble, according to reports.
The video has led to calls for an investigation. The Times of India reports the civic body orders an official inquiry to check the authenticity of the video and identify the participants. The Free Press Journal says the footage reportedly surfaced around 2 pm and adds claims that the video is about six months old, though its date and authenticity cannot be independently verified. It also notes that many councillors shown are reportedly associated with the BJP. Municipal officials named in the reports said they had no information, while attempts to contact some individuals were unsuccessful.
Political reactions are also reported. Congress and Samajwadi Party leaders demand action and warn about the message the video could send to the public. Both outlets mention that the corporation has faced prior allegations, including tender irregularities and suspected issues in outsourcing recruitments.
