Lionsgate Television has extended its overall deal with Alexi Hawley, the creator, executive producer and showrunner behind the “The Rookie” franchise. Multiple outlets report the agreement is multi-year and continues Hawley’s work with the studio on the existing ABC series and related projects.

The renewal comes as “The Rookie,” starring Nathan Fillion, enters its ninth season following ABC’s order for another season. Sources also point to an upcoming spinoff that is slated to premiere in 2027, extending the franchise beyond the current series.

Beyond “The Rookie,” coverage notes Hawley is also developing and producing other scripted television for Lionsgate under the new pact. Variety adds that Hawley’s drama project, “The Envoy,” shifts to HBO Max, highlighting that the overall deal supports both continuing franchise work and separate new development across platforms. Details of the financial terms are not provided in the reports.
