China’s humanoid robot Tiangong runs the 100 metres in under nine seconds at the World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing. On Tuesday, it posts a time of 8.86 seconds, after previously setting a 9.39-second benchmark at the event’s opening.
Several outlets also cite Tiangong’s fastest run, with NDTV and The Kathmandu Post reporting a 100m time of 8.64 seconds. Al Jazeera and Reuters-based reporting highlight that the robot’s performances are about seven-tenths of a second faster than the men’s human 100m world record of 9.58 seconds set by Usain Bolt.
