African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore says Nigerian politicians should no longer be addressed as “His Excellency” or “Her Excellency.” He makes the call in a post on his verified X account on Tuesday, arguing that Nigeria’s politicians have not earned the title.
Sowore links the argument to what he describes as ongoing public problems, saying there is nothing “excellent” about decades of corruption, poverty, insecurity, and poor governance. One outlet also connects the statement to his earlier comments on Monday, when he criticised Rotimi Amaechi, Peter Obi, and other politicians who supported the removal of the fuel subsidy and asked them to apologise to Nigerians.
