A man is sentenced to jail after making more than 1,000 “silent calls” to neighbourhood police centres, with the calls placed “for fun and enjoyment,” according to multiple reports. The total number of calls is reported as 1,035.
The calls are made to neighbourhood police centres in Ang Mo Kio North, Bedok, Geylang and Yishun. One outlet reports that at the Yishun police centre alone, officers answer 330 silent calls. Police reportedly receive the repeated calls across these locations over time.
Different outlets focus on the court outcome and the scale of the conduct. One report states the man receives a 23-day jail term, while another describes the behaviour in terms of the number of silent calls made to specific police centres and the number of times officers answer calls at Yishun.
