The Met Gala in New York, held on the first Monday in May, brings major stars from Hollywood, music, sports and fashion to the Metropolitan Museum of Art for its annual charity fundraiser. This year’s dress theme, “Fashion is Art,” aligns with the museum’s upcoming “Costume Art” exhibit, exploring how fashion intersects with works across different art forms and highlighting ideas such as no hierarchy between materials and bodies.

Celebrities and fashion figures attending and co-chairing include Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams and Beyoncé, with Kidman and Williams among the early arrivals on the red carpet. Performers and host-committee members also appear, including rapper Doja Cat. Fashion and costume designs referenced multiple prominent brands, while Anna Wintour oversees the event as its long-time leader.

The gala also draws attention to its sponsors. Jeff Bezos and his wife Lauren Sánchez Bezos are named lead sponsors and honorary co-chairs, a development that triggers public criticism and calls for protest or boycott from activists who object to billionaire involvement. In parallel, the museum reports the gala has raised a record $42 million, following $31 million in 2025, according to the Met’s CEO.
