United Airlines announces plans to add 10 new international destinations, calling it its biggest expansion in nearly 100 years. The airline says the routes will begin as early as March 2027, and that eight of the ten new destinations will depart from its Newark hub.
The new nonstop destinations include Okinawa, Japan; Ibiza and Valencia, Spain; Toulouse, Marseille, and other French cities; Luxembourg City, Luxembourg; Terceira, Portugal; Ljubljana, Slovenia; and additional destinations in Italy such as Olbia and Catania. Quartz and The Hill both describe the same set of planned cities and the timing of the rollout, with the emphasis on when service starts and the concentration of departures from Newark.
Across the two reports, the differing emphasis is mainly on framing: The Hill highlights the expansion as the largest in the company’s history, while Quartz focuses more on the specific timing of “as early as March 2027” and the Newark departure share.
