Nvidia says it makes its first shipments of H200 data-centre AI processors to customers in China after a months-long gap. In the most recent quarter, the company sold a small number of the chips in China, using a US licensing framework that allows certain exports.
While Nvidia confirms the restart, reporting across outlets indicates the volumes remain limited. Bloomberg says shipments to China fall short of the total permitted under the arrangements, which occur with the backing of US President Donald Trump. The South China Morning Post adds that the sales do not translate into meaningful data-centre computing revenue for Nvidia, saying the H200 shipments account for less than 1% of Nvidia’s data-centre revenue in its second quarter (ended July 26). It also notes that Nvidia previously reported no shipments of Data Centre Hopper products to China in the prior quarter.
Together, the sources describe a shift from zero or no shipments to small, licensed sales, but with limited financial impact and volumes below allowed levels.
