Two men die after falling into silage tank at Cheshire farm

The farm workers, aged 42 and 72, fell into the slurry tank in Aston by Budworth, near Northwich, at around 12.00pm on Wednesday, according to police. Officers from Cheshire Police, firefighters and paramedics were called to the farm on Cann Lane. Multiple emergency vehicles were seen in the area following the incident. They removed both men from the tank, but they were pronounced dead at the scene. The force said various ambulance resources were dispatched to the scene. The UK’s workplace safety regulater, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), said its inspectors had visited the farm on Wednesday and that it was liaising with Cheshire Police.
