Rock en Seine in Paris is offering live audio-described concerts so blind and partially sighted spectators can follow the performances. Festival staff provide dedicated viewing platforms and equipment, including headphones and receivers, to support real-time narration of the show.
Across the music festival, audio description is available each day from 26 to 30 August. The narration is delivered by a voice that describes what is happening on stage, including movements and lighting, to help attendees experience elements of the concert that are normally visual. Euronews and France 24 both describe the initiative as a first for the festival, positioning it as part of a broader effort to improve accessibility for people with visual impairments. France 24 also credits the Valentin Haüy Association, which provides the audio description system, for pioneering such services in France.
