Plex says it is increasing the price of its Lifetime Plex Pass from about $250 to $749.99. Multiple outlets report the change will take effect on July 1, 2026, with some coverage specifying the effective time as 12:01 a.m. UTC and others noting the change around June 30 at 8:01 p.m. ET. The company previously priced the Lifetime tier at $249.99 (or about $250, depending on the outlet), and the new price represents a roughly $500 increase and a tripling of the current cost. Plex states the higher price reflects the “real, ongoing value” of the software and that the additional resources support continued development and maintenance of the Plex personal media platform.
Plex also says it is not raising the price of its standard Plex Pass subscription, which is reported as $7 per month or $70 per year. It further says customers who purchase the Lifetime pass before the new price goes into effect can lock in the current $250 price, and that existing Lifetime buyers keep access to Plex Pass benefits without changes. Alongside the pricing update, Plex shares a roadmap for improvements such as better downloads features and mobile app updates.
