Guyana’s Defence Force (GDF) reports multiple incidents in Region Seven along the western border involving patrols and hostile fire. On Monday at about 11:30 hrs, a GDF boat patrol is said to be escorting three civilian vessels carrying personnel and cargo when it comes under fire. The GDF statement says one of its ranks is injured, following the exchange during the operation.
Separately, on Tuesday afternoon, the GDF says a patrol conducting border security operations along the Cuyuni River in Region Seven encounters hostile fire on two occasions. The incidents are reported at approximately 16:10 hrs and 16:50 hrs at known locations along the river. In that case, the GDF states that all ranks and civilians are safely evacuated and that no injuries are reported.
Across the reports, the GDF attributes both situations to hostile fire during border security activities, with details tied to time, location (western border/Cuyuni River in Region Seven), and the status of personnel following the incidents.
