Authorities accuse Daejon Labrayae Love of running a romance and investment scam targeting women through dating apps. According to multiple reports, he allegedly posed as a San Francisco 49ers player and used fabricated evidence and luxury imagery to build credibility, ultimately duping 26 victims out of about $1.3 million.
Reports say an FBI affidavit describes an elaborate scheme in which Love allegedly created fake online accounts and presented himself as an affluent professional. One outlet notes the use of custom helmets and other props, while another describes him using search-engine results and videos in luxury cars to support the false NFL career. Victims were reportedly persuaded to believe they were making legitimate investments.
The allegations also include that Love’s scheme involved an additional person, Taylor Jamie Chan, who is described as an accomplice in creating fake accounts and investment offers.
