Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announces a set of initiatives for women on Raksha Bandhan, including expanding free public transport and dedicating electric buses for women in Dehradun. The announcement includes free travel for women on Roadways buses and plans for women-focused bus services during the festival.

According to reports, women aged 60 and above will be eligible for free travel on Roadways buses, extending a benefit that previously applied to senior citizens above 65 years. Times of India also highlights the allocation of 10 electric buses in Dehradun as “Pink e-Buses” for women, linking the measures to safety and convenience.

Other measures described by Free Press Journal extend beyond transport: the CM announces an increase in the concessional loan limit under the Women’s Self-Employment Scheme from ₹2 lakh to ₹2.5 lakh, and development of modern “high-tech” toilets at major public places to improve privacy and safety. The reports present the proposals as part of broader state efforts to support women’s empowerment and dignity.
