Rockstar’s first major GTA 6 gameplay reveal is drawing praise from technology analysts for its real-time rendering and detailed open-world presentation. Digital Foundry, cited across outlets, describes the showcase as among the most impressive examples of current-gen game visuals, with particular attention to character fidelity and environmental richness.

Analysts highlight advancements in character rendering, including skin and hair behavior, as well as ray tracing used in a targeted way. Rather than relying solely on modern upscaling or chasing the highest frame rates, the presentation appears to balance visual fidelity with performance, using conventional techniques alongside selective ray tracing.

Performance is a central difference in framing. GameSpot reports Digital Foundry’s analysis of a 30FPS target that stays consistent across a large set of frames, while also noting a native 1440p render upscaled to 4K without modern upscaling, which can make the image slightly soft. Both sources emphasize the prioritization of visual quality. The analyses also suggest a 60FPS mode is unlikely on current consoles, with potential improvements more plausible on future hardware or a PC version.
