Nvidia’s DLSS 5 neural rendering code leaks early and modders begin using it outside its intended platform. Multiple outlets report that developers in a modding community extract an “Neural Rendering” dynamic-link library (DLL) from an early-access build of NBA 2K27, totaling about 158MB, and then adapt it for other games.

The modified effects spread quickly. The Verge reports modders have tried the unofficial DLSS 5 implementation in games such as Skyrim, Cyberpunk 2077, and GTA V, with additional titles mentioned in other coverage. Times of India says modders get it running in Control within hours and later attempt it in games including Elden Ring. Both sources describe performance impacts, including frame-rate drops described by Times of India, and allege that at least one modder patches the solution to work on RTX 4000 series GPUs that Nvidia had not supported for the official version.

While both accounts agree the leak originates from NBA 2K27 early access and that modders rapidly port the functionality to multiple games, they differ mainly in which specific titles they highlight and how they characterize early performance outcomes and GPU compatibility.
