Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman arrives in the United States for a six-day trip focused on strengthening economic and financial cooperation and promoting India as an investment destination. The reports say she reaches Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport on Thursday after a three-day visit to Canada, where she takes part in the first India–Canada Economic and Financial Dialogue.

In Chicago, Sitharaman is scheduled to meet investors and business leaders through a roundtable and discussions with chief executives and other private-sector representatives. The talks emphasize India’s investment opportunities, economic outlook, and potential avenues for deeper India–US partnerships. She is also set to visit the University of Chicago’s Polsky Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, covering entrepreneurship, innovation and technology commercialization.

The trip then shifts to the G20. Sitharaman leads India’s delegation at the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors meeting in Asheville, North Carolina, on August 31 and September 1, where G20 officials discuss global economic growth and financial stability. Afterward, she travels to New York for additional investor roundtables and one-on-one meetings with financial-sector CEOs. Coverage centers on two themes: the G20 agenda and investor outreach, with both outlets aligning on the overall itinerary and objectives.
