Freedom Fuel gas stations promoted by the Trump administration are named in a lawsuit alleging they sold fuel that a supplier did not get paid for. The suit, filed in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, claims Mansfield Oil Company was not paid for more than $4 million worth of fuel supplied to KRSM, a foreign corporation.
According to the complaint, some of that fuel was sold to stations in the Freedom Fuel network. CNBC reports the alleged unpaid amount is about $4 million, while The Hill says the lawsuit was filed Aug. 19 and characterizes the conduct as involving fuel sold by Freedom Fuel stations that the supplier never received payment for. Both outlets attribute the claims to the distributor’s lawsuit.
