Showbox, the Korean film and content studio, launches a new microdrama label called Showbite and plans to roll out original short-form dramas starting in September. The project is designed to expand Showbox’s presence in short-form scripted content with releases across multiple genres.
According to outlets, Showbite’s slate covers a range of themes, including romance, comedy, revenge, action-thriller, period drama, fantasy, mystery, and horror. NDTV and Variety both describe the effort as entering the microdrama space with programming aimed at audiences interested in compact, episodic storytelling.
While Variety provides additional detail about specific planned titles and positioning within certain subgenres—such as romance stories including BL elements—NDTV focuses more broadly on the overall launch, genre range, and timing. Both sources align on the label’s creation, its September rollout, and its cross-genre approach.
