Zomato shuts its customer support operations in Hyderabad, cutting roughly 250 jobs, according to multiple reports. The company says the move is part of a restructuring of its “Customer Delight” operating model rather than a response to employee performance.
Outlets report that affected employees receive pay and benefits during the transition. Times of India says employees are given their salaries and severance packages, along with continued medical benefits, while NDTV Profit reports more specific figures: the affected staff get August salary plus four months of severance that includes contractual notice pay and a one-time ex gratia payment. NDTV also cites internal review findings around organizational requirements.
Most coverage also links the change to centralizing support functions at Zomato’s Gurugram headquarters and increasing reliance on specialised external partners. Free Press Journal adds that Hyderabad staffing affected is about 240 and notes additional measures such as keeping certain company-issued equipment and receiving outplacement support. Medical and counselling support are reported to continue for a defined period.
