PhonePe launches UPI 123Pay, a UPI payment service designed for users of feature phones without requiring an internet connection. The company says it is extending UPI payments to an estimated more than 200 million feature phone users across India.

According to reporting, UPI 123Pay supports peer-to-peer and peer-to-merchant transactions and also enables balance checks. PhonePe also includes an AI-powered helpline aimed at first-time users, available in multiple languages, to guide them through using the service. The outlets also note that future updates are planned, including utility bill payments and mobile recharges.

Across the sources, the core focus is the same: PhonePe is making UPI functionality accessible to feature phone customers offline. The Business Line piece highlights the scale of adoption among feature phone users, while other outlets provide additional details on the specific functions and planned expansion beyond payments.
