Airbus awards Mahindra Aerostructures a manufacturing contract for fuselage skins for the Airbus A320 family, including the A320neo and A321XLR variants. The work covers fuselage Sections 18 and 19, which correspond to the rear fuselage and tail portions.
According to the reports, initial engineering activities are already underway, including tooling and process-flow updates, as well as qualification and inspection steps. Times of India adds that manufacturing takes place in Bengaluru, with the produced parts shipped to Germany for subsequent assembly. All outlets point to deliveries starting in 2028.
Outlets also differ slightly on the operational framing. The Hindu emphasizes the state of engineering preparation and the timing of deliveries, while Business Line highlights the contract as supportive of India’s “Make in India” agenda. Details like the number of skins produced for each section vary by account: Times of India specifies eight skins for Section 18 and three for Section 19.
