Sony launches a new free “Live TV” app on PlayStation 5, giving users access to more than 100 live channels and on-demand movies. The service includes advertisements and is offered at no additional cost to PS5 owners.

Outlets report that the app launches in the United States on August 31. TechRadar and Polygon describe a lineup spanning movies, shows, and sports, and they also note anime among the available content. TechGenyz adds that Sony Pictures Television is behind the service and emphasizes the ad-supported model.

While coverage differs in emphasis—some outlets foreground the “100 channels” figure and the app’s broad entertainment categories, others highlight the provider and the launch timing—there is broad agreement on the core details: it is a Sony-developed, free, ad-supported streaming experience on PS5 that becomes available first in the U.S.
