Disney+ is no longer moving forward with a live-action reboot of the mid-1990s animated series “Gargoyles,” according to reports from Deadline and Variety. The project, which had been in early development at the streamer, is described as having been effectively ended.

Both outlets note that Disney+ had been developing a live-action version with writer Gary Dauberman and James Wan’s Atomic Monster. The animated “Gargoyles” originally aired from 1994 to 1997. Deadline adds that series co-creator Greg Weisman previously discussed the project’s status, saying in an interview that a live-action reboot was not moving ahead, aligning with the broader report that the effort has stalled.

While the outlets differ slightly in emphasis—Deadline foregrounds Weisman’s comments, and Variety cites a source confirming the decision—they converge on the same outcome: Disney+ stops development for the live-action “Gargoyles” reboot.
