Bloomberg and Euronews also note that Trump has previously met Kim multiple times during his first term, including high-profile summits aimed at denuclearisation that did not produce tangible progress. CNA adds that Trump has said it is important to “get along” with Kim and that North Korea is believed to possess 57 “very powerful” nuclear weapons.
The Japan Times and Bloomberg descriptions emphasize that, while Seoul does not identify any known concrete contact between Washington and Pyongyang, intelligence indicators point toward possible engagement.
