Actor Mukesh Khanna faces renewed backlash after appearing alongside comedian Samay Raina in a mobile phone advertisement. The backlash follows Khanna’s earlier criticisms of Raina and his show, “India’s Got Latent,” with some social media users accusing him of backing down after the ad.

Khanna now clarifies that the project is a brand advertisement, not a collaboration with Raina or with “India’s Got Latent.” According to reports, he says it took several days for the company to convince him, and he questioned how he could appear with Raina while wanting his show to be stopped. He says he only agreed after reviewing the script and being assured changes could be made to fit his requirements.

While reiterating that he is still opposed to “roasting programmes” and similar below-the-belt jokes, Khanna also responds to the accusations by pointing out that he has never praised Raina as a performer. He adds that Raina remains enterprising and was friendly during filming, but that his personal views on the show’s style of content do not change.
