Nepal rescue teams are reaching remote areas in the wake of devastating floods, while recovery efforts continue nearly a week after the disaster. Reports say electricity is being restored and that crews are working to restore access routes, including roads, to allow aid and equipment to reach affected sites.
Rescue operations also focus on people trapped at or near hydropower facilities. About 600 individuals are reported to remain stuck in several devastated hydropower stations, which have become a key priority for rescuers. Prime Minister Balendra Shah reports that more than 11,000 people have been rescued across the affected region.
Sources differ on the reported death toll, with one outlet citing at least 939 killed. The overall emphasis across coverage is on extending rescue reach to isolated locations, restoring critical infrastructure such as power and transport links, and continuing operations for those still trapped at damaged hydropower sites.
