The coverage says an investigation into possible manipulation of crime statistics has identified leadership-level officials—captains or above—who were served termination papers and are expected to be dismissed. One report describes that the discipline is connected to a completed internal affairs investigation, while others frame it as part of a broader federal probe.
The allegations involve efforts to make the city appear safer by reducing the severity of reported crimes.
