A new US$35 million Wismar-Mackenzie Bridge is scheduled to officially open by October 5, according to Guyana’s Minister of Public Works, Bishop Juan Edghill. The bridge is expected to improve travel in and around Region Ten and for people heading into the hinterland.
Edghill says the bridge will offer safer, more accessible routes and will be toll-free, drawing on a similar approach to the opening of the Bharrat Jagdeo River bridge.
