Former Google engineer Linwei Ding is sentenced to about one year in prison after a court finds he stole trade secrets related to the company’s AI technology, according to multiple reports.
The sentence includes additional penalties. NDTV says the judge orders Ding to serve two years of supervised release after the prison term, along with restitution exceeding $189,000 and a $25,000 fine. Mint reports that Ding faced a broader set of allegations early in the case, but that some charges involving economic espionage were overturned.
