Sonos announces Sonos 27, its next-generation audio operating system, alongside a redesigned Sonos app and new ways to move sound across devices. The company says the update brings AI-powered controls and additional features such as portable surrounds.

Across outlets, the main focus is Sonos’s AI integration. NDTV and Times of India both say Sonos 27 enables users to work with AI assistants, including OpenAI’s ChatGPT, rather than limiting control to a single voice platform. Times of India adds that Sonos 27 supports external AI agents through a new “Sonos 27mcp” interface, and also mentions a Sonos 27voice assistant. NDTV emphasizes broader audio control capabilities and movement between devices, while both describe a shift toward AI-driven user interactions.

For India, both sources report that Sonos’s India-bound products include the Sonos Beam Ultra soundbar and Sonos Ace Ultra headphones, with the portable Sonos Play going on sale from September 8. The reports frame the launch as part of Sonos expanding its lineup in the market.
