A video circulating online shows a Mumbai traffic police officer allegedly pushing a cyclist aside and moving the cyclist’s bicycle during a VIP convoy movement, prompting criticism and calls for accountability. The footage depicts a person attempting to pass through a barricaded area while carrying goods on his bicycle as traffic restrictions are enforced for the convoy. The cyclist appears to lose balance and fall after the officer intervenes, and the bicycle is then shifted away to keep the restricted stretch clear.
Shiv Sena MP Milind Deora responds to the video on social media, describing the treatment as “unacceptable” and saying the identity of the VIP is irrelevant when it comes to treating members of the public with dignity. He tags Mumbai Police and Mumbai Traffic Police and urges “strict action” so the incident does not recur. Times of India reports that Mumbai Police acknowledges the video and will investigate.
Social media users also express concern about how ordinary commuters and workers are treated during road restrictions for VIP movements, with some calling for empathy and others questioning whether disciplinary action will follow.
