CNBC is closing its Hong Kong office and axing several flagship international daily programmes as part of a broader operational overhaul across Asia and Europe. The company tells staff of the changes in an internal memo, according to reporting that describes it as a series of difficult decisions following an evaluation of international programming.
Hong Kong Free Press adds that the changes are linked to “programming and production restructuring” connected to the closure of the local office, citing Bloomberg. It also names several of the shows being dropped, including “Inside India,” “The China Connection,” and “Europe Early Edition.” Both accounts describe the cancellations as part of a restructuring of CNBC’s international presence, but they differ in emphasis: one focuses on the company’s planned operational changes across regions, while the other highlights the local office closure and specific programme titles.
