Nvidia launches Personal AI Router (PAIR), a free open-source software tool that links compatible computers on a home network to run local AI inference and agentic workloads using idle processing power. PAIR is not a physical router; it connects devices so they can work together for tasks such as running tools like Ollama and LM Studio.

Nvidia positions PAIR as a way to reduce bottlenecks by distributing workloads across multiple machines rather than relying on a single GPU. The system is designed to use devices when they are idle so it does not interfere with other activities, and it can adapt as computers join or leave the network—for example, when someone starts gaming. Sources also note support for mostly Nvidia hardware, including GeForce RTX 20-series and newer GPUs, RTX Pro GPUs, and DGX Spark, while Apple M4 chips or newer can also participate.

The Verge and Slashdot both report that Nvidia secures PAIR by pairing devices through a six-digit code and then establishing encrypted connections using mutual TLS (mTLS). The beta is described as available immediately across Windows, Linux, and macOS.
