Variety reports that Netflix sets the Ravenloft series into development after a separate Dungeons & Dragons project inspired by the setting The Forgotten Realms was scrapped. Deadline similarly frames Ravenloft as a new project with different auspices than the previously reported Forgotten Realms effort, not directly related to that earlier work. Gizmodo adds that the series is described as an origin story focused on the character Count Strahd von Zarovich.
