A ferry boat, Anvari, develops a technical snag while operating near the Gateway of India in Mumbai and stops mid-sea. Police say all 38 people aboard—34 passengers and four crew members—are safely brought back to shore after the incident occurs around 8.30 pm.
According to reports, the ferry was about 1.5 nautical miles from the Gateway of India when it stopped while returning to the jetty from a short sea ride. Rescue teams contact another nearby vessel, the ferry Azad Hind. The Azad Hind ferry reaches the stranded boat and tows it back to Gateway of India Jetty No. 2, with the operation concluding by about 9.10 pm.
