Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri tells Northern leaders that they should take responsibility for the region’s insecurity and focus on finding lasting solutions rather than blaming President Bola Tinubu. He makes the remarks on Thursday during a stakeholders’ engagement linked to the Adamawa All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yola.
Fintiri criticises what he describes as a tendency among some Northern leaders to attribute security problems to Southern presidents. He cites past accusations against former President Goodluck Jonathan and argues that Boko Haram members are “our people,” saying the insurgency draws from within the North. He also says Tinubu has not “cheated” Northern Nigeria since taking office, and he directs criticism instead at Northern leadership for allegedly failing to deliver good governance and address local challenges.
