The proposal is based on an assessment by the Antiquities and Monuments Office, following a recommendation from the Historic Buildings Assessment Panel.
Both outlets report that the process is still under review and depends on next steps by advisory bodies before any final designation. The sites’ growing visibility among tourists—particularly mainland visitors—is cited as part of why the seawall has drawn attention. While the grade listing would recognize the seawall’s historic value, at least one report notes that experts emphasize the importance of presentation and “storytelling” to make the heritage meaningfully understood for the public.
