Meesho’s shares rise more than 3% on Friday after SoftBank completes a large block sale of its stake in the e-commerce company. The stock gains 3.3% to ₹216.67 on the NSE following the transaction, with investors absorbing the shares despite the supply from the deal.
The outlets report that SoftBank’s affiliate, SVF II Meerkat (DE) LLC, sells 8 crore Meesho shares in two tranches. The block deal is valued at about ₹1,650.40 crore, with an average sale price of ₹206.30 per share. After the sale, SoftBank’s holding falls to 6.87% from 8.6%.
While both sources agree on the market reaction and deal terms, they differ mainly in emphasis. One focuses on the share price rebound following the block trade, while the other adds detail on institutional participation and mentions that additional funds and foreign investors buy shares alongside domestic mutual funds. The second outlet also references a prior stake sale by other investors last month.
