The Coal Ministry rejects claims that there are “no takers” for a coal-based gasification scheme estimated at Rs 37,500 crore. The ministry says applications have already been made by project proponents and that the scheme is not at the stage of seeking initial interest.
According to the ministry’s response reported by both outlets, Talcher Fertilisers Ltd (TFL) and NTPC are among those already involved. The Hindu adds that TFL is implementing a coal-based ammonia-urea gasification complex, with commissioning expected in FY 2027–28. Swarajya reports that the ministry confirms that NTPC and TFL have already applied for the gasification initiative.
