The National Investigation Agency (NIA) files a chargesheet against 13 people over an alleged espionage operation involving sensitive installations. The accused are alleged to have infiltrated or trespassed into areas of vital importance and then transmitted information obtained from these locations.
According to the NIA, the accused used spy equipment, including installing spy cameras, to relay critical details. The information is alleged to have been sent to entities located in an “enemy country,” as described by The Hindu. Times of India adds that the charges are filed under multiple provisions, including the Official Secrets Act and sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
The outlets also report that the NIA presents material against five juveniles connected to the case, while investigations into additional suspects are ongoing. Differences between the reports are mainly in the level of detail about methods and destinations, but both describe a common core allegation: unauthorized entry into sensitive sites and subsequent transmission of sensitive information.
