A 23-year-old woman alleges that an Ola cab driver attempted to sexually assault her after stopping the vehicle on a deserted road near Navi Mumbai International Airport in the early hours of Sunday. The woman says the driver moved to the rear seat and tried to disrobe her and grab her hand. She resisted, raised an alarm, escaped, and later reported the incident to police.

Police register the case and conduct a probe into the claim. The woman says the cab had been taking her from a party in Chembur back to Panvel, and that the incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. Free Press Journal reports that airport police also detain the driver after tracing the vehicle, and that investigators examine route data from the cab aggregator and the driver’s account.

While Times of India reports the woman escapes and a case is registered with police searching for the accused, Free Press Journal adds details of the investigation, including that the driver says he dropped the woman at her home in Panvel and that she was arguing with a male friend during the trip. Police say they are comparing the woman’s version with evidence and the driver’s statements.
