Figma is launching its own AI assistant designed to work directly inside its collaborative design canvas. The assistant lets users generate, edit, and iterate on designs using natural-language prompts, performing changes alongside other collaborators in the same canvas. TechCrunch and The Next Web both report that the feature is intended to be integrated into Figma’s design workflow rather than offered as a separate tool.
The Next Web adds that the rollout follows Figma’s prior efforts to open its canvas to other AI options and points to partnerships with Anthropic and OpenAI, as well as Figma’s acquisition activity, including the purchase of Weavy. Together, the reports frame the assistant as the company moving further from enabling third-party AI in the canvas toward providing a dedicated in-product agent.
TechCrunch reports that the assistant will be first available on Figma Design. Across both outlets, the focus remains on in-canvas assistance—supporting users by performing design-related actions directly on the shared workspace.
