Expedia is acquiring CarTrawler, an Ireland-based B2B platform for the travel industry, expanding Expedia’s business-to-business offerings. The acquisition is described by Expedia as another step toward building a broader B2B travel platform. Expedia’s president for B2B and chief commercial officer, Alfonso Paredes, says the deal supports the company’s ambition to develop a more complete B2B travel offering.
The move comes as Expedia continues to grow its B2B business and manage recent acquisitions. Skift reports that Expedia’s CEO Ariane Gorin previously led the company’s B2B unit and that the company is giving its B2B leadership team increased freedom and resources to expand the segment. However, Expedia also faces integration work related to combining multiple newly acquired businesses, including Tiqets and CarTrawler.
Both outlets frame the transaction as a strategic expansion of Expedia’s B2B capabilities, while also highlighting that integrating the new businesses adds operational complexity.
